    RALEIGH, N.C. (April 25, 2017) - Food, friends, and fundraising! Wake Tech christened the sparkling new kitchen facilities at its Northern Wake Campus with the “Bake Tech Mixer,” a VIP reception, on Tuesday evening, April 25. The event (named for the popular “Bake Tech” video series the college launched last year) raised funds for Baking & Pastry Arts scholarships and program needs.

    RALEIGH, N.C. (December 5, 2016) - Local business leader Tommy Laakso has joined the board of directors of the Wake Tech Foundation. Laakso was selected for his community leadership and commitment to the mission of the college. 

    Laakso is Executive General Manager for Hendrick Cary Auto Mall in Cary, North Carolina. He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance with a concentration in accounting from Appalachian State University. Laakso is a car enthusiast with a passion for the auto industry.     RALEIGH, N.C. (July 26, 2016) - Local business leaders Mary-Ann Baldwin, Mike Conlon, Samantha Hatem, and Walt Tippett have joined the board of directors of the Wake Tech Foundation. The new members were selected for their community leadership and commitment to the mission of the college. The Foundation Board has also named a new leadership team that includes Judy Fourie (chair), David Brownlee (chair-elect), and Pam Williams (treasurer).     RALEIGH, N.C. (June 30, 2016) -The Wake Tech Community College Foundation has a new leader.Matt Smith has been named Executive Director, leading efforts to grow private support for the college. Smith has been serving as Associate Executive Director since he joined the Foundation last August. In his new role, Smith will be responsible for managing over $12.5 million in total assets while adding to that base. 

    Prior to joining the Wake Tech Foundation, Smith spent a decade as a business developer in the commercial construction industry. He also spent 12 years working in alumni relations and fundraising at NC State University....
