A new student is someone who has a high school diploma or GED (or is completing the last semester of high school) but has never attended a college or university. See other options below.
A health sciences student is someone who wishes to enroll in a Wake Tech Health Sciences program to pursue an associate's degree, diploma, or certificate.
A returning student is a former Wake Tech student, returning after an absence of two or more years and planning to complete a degree, diploma, or certificate—or planning to complete 12 or more credit hours in order to transfer to another college or university.
A transfer student is one who has attended another college or university and is seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate at Wake Tech; or a Wake Tech student who wishes to complete 12 or more credit hours in order to transfer to another college or university.
A special or visiting student is defined as:
- A student who is currently enrolled at another college or university who wishes to take courses at Wake Tech to transfer back to the home institution;
- A student who wishes to take prerequisite courses at Wake Tech in order to enter a program at another college or university; or
- A student taking a course or courses for personal interest.
Official or unofficial transcripts should be provided to show that prerequisites have been met.
An international student is one who must be issued an I-20 form to be eligible to study in the United States.
High school juniors and seniors who wish to take courses for college credit can enroll in Wake Tech’s Career and College Promise program (formerly Concurrent Enrollment).
